Meet Our Pastor
Our Story
Brandon Sweeney is the Founder and Lead Pastor of Salt City Church. He’s a devoted husband to his wife, Ashantae, and dad to their three amazing kids: Judah, Bethany, and Aubrey.
Born and raised in Akron, OH, Brandon met Jesus in college while playing football. Through his team chaplain, he heard and believed the Gospel — and his life was forever changed. Since then, he has served in ministry for over 15 years in various roles, passionate about preaching God’s Word, shepherding people, and equipping leaders to live as salt and light in their everyday lives.
Brandon has also worked as an educator, counselor, and coach, and he’s a two-time author. He holds degrees from NC A&T State University and Argosy University.
Brandon and Ashantae met in Greensboro, NC, and married in July 2011. Ashantae, a New Orleans native, is a graduate of Howard University and NC State University. She loves this season of life as a wife and homeschool mom, pouring into their children and supporting the mission of Salt City.
The Sweeneys’ story is marked by God’s faithfulness. In 2016, they moved to Houston for what seemed like just a job — but it was a divine setup. They joined a church plant in North Houston and began serving, which confirmed and clarified Brandon’s long-standing sense of calling to pastor.
In 2019, while serving as Associate and Youth Pastor, Brandon had a vivid dream about planting a church in Bryan-College Station. Unsure what it meant, he kept it to himself — until four months later when Ashantae shared an almost identical vision. They knew God was leading them.
They began visiting Bryan-College Station regularly to pray over the city, and in December 2022, they made the move permanent. Brandon entered the church planting residency at Restoration Church-Bryan, where they were equipped and encouraged to step into this calling.
Today, they carry a deep love for this city and a strong conviction to boldly represent Jesus here. They are excited to see lives transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to make an eternal impact in Bryan-College Station and beyond for God’s glory.
