Our Beliefs

We believe that all Scripture is inspired by God. The whole of the biblical text is from God and given to humanity. The source of Scripture is the very breath of God; therefore, we believe the Scriptures to be infallible, inerrant, and authoritative.

Infallible: The Word is fully trustworthy in everything and does not mislead.

Inerrant: The Word of God is free from falsehood and mistakes.

Authoritative: The Word is our final authority

The whole of Scripture tells the story of God from creation, the fall, redemption, and the end times

We believe in one God, Creator of all things, holy, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in a loving unity of three equally divine Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Having limitless knowledge and sovereign power, God has graciously purposed from eternity to redeem a people for Himself and to make all things new for His own glory

We believe that Jesus Christ, the second Person of the Trinity, is God incarnate, fully God and fully man, one Person in two natures. Jesus—Israel’s promised Messiah—was conceived through the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, was crucified under Pontius Pilate, arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father as our High Priest and Advocate.

As the eternal Son of God, Jesus became man to reveal God and redeem sinful humanity. His death on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice guarantees our redemption, and His literal, physical resurrection ensures our salvation.

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is God, the giver of life, active in the Old Testament and present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit glorifies Jesus, regenerates sinners, and empowers them for Christlike living, service, and witness.

Believers are encouraged to earnestly desire the manifestation of spiritual gifts that operate in harmony with the Scriptures. These gifts, bestowed by the Holy Spirit, are for the benefit of the believing community and the world.

We believe that all the gifts of the Holy Spirit displayed in the New Testament are still active and available to the Church today. The gifts did not cease with the completion of the New Testament or the death of the apostles. The Holy Spirit gives every believer a spiritual gift according to His will and believers are encouraged to earnestly desire spiritual gifts (1 Cor 14:1)

We believe spiritual gifts should always operate in harmony with Scripture and in a way that glorifies Jesus, builds up His Church, and brings encouragement and comfort to others.

Our desire is to be a church that is both Word and Spirit. We believe we need the truth of God's Word and the empowering presence and work of the Holy Spirit.

Our aim is simple when it comes to the practice of spiritual gifts: Love is our motive, Edification is our goal, and Humility and gratitude are our posture.

We believe that God created all people in His image, endowing them with intrinsic value, worth, and dignity. However, the first man and woman, deceived by Satan, chose willful disobedience to God (sin), leading to separation and infecting creation and all of mankind with a sinful nature. As a result, everyone falls short of God's standards and needs redemption through God's saving grace. Salvation and new life are available through faith in Jesus, whose life, death, and resurrection bring forgiveness of sins. God's Word assures that He continues His saving work, offering the gift of the Holy Spirit and eternal life.

We believe that salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone. Through His death on the cross, Jesus paid the penalty for our sins, and through His resurrection, He conquered sin and death and gives us new life.

Salvation is a free gift of God’s grace received through faith in Jesus Christ. God is sovereign in salvation, and every person has the privilege of responding to the gospel by repenting and believing in Jesus. We cannot earn salvation through good behavior, religious activity, or good works. Everyone who trusts in the person and finished work of Jesus Christ receives forgiveness of sins and is welcomed into God’s family.

We believe that everyone who has genuinely repented and placed their faith in Jesus Christ is eternally secure in Him. Salvation is a work of God from beginning to end, and those whom He saves, He keeps by His grace. Genuine believers may struggle, stumble, and experience seasons of doubt or disobedience, but God remains faithful to His people to the end.

We also believe that genuine saving faith produces a changed life, evidenced by spiritual fruit and good works. While good works do not earn or maintain our salvation, God's grace transforms us and teaches us to turn from sin and live for Christ. Therefore, salvation is never a license to live however we want.

We believe that the Church is the body of Christ sent into the world to shine forth the glory of God. God created the Church, calling sinful humanity into the fellowship of Christ’s body. The Church is sons and daughters who have repented of their sin, placed their faith in Jesus Christ, and been made new by the Holy Spirit

The Church exists to worship and glorify God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The ultimate mission of the Church is to bring glory to God by making disciples through worship, prayer, the teaching and application of God's Word, fellowship and care for one another, the exercise of spiritual gifts, the observance of the ordinances, equipping believers for the work of ministry, serving those around us, and proclaiming and demonstrating the gospel in our communities and throughout the world

We practice believer's baptism by immersion in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Baptism is for those who have personally placed their faith in Jesus Christ and are able to understand and profess the gospel for themselves.

Baptism does not save us. Instead, it is a public declaration of the salvation we have already received through faith in Christ. Going beneath the water symbolizes our identification with Christ in His death and burial, and being raised from the water symbolizes His resurrection and the new life we now have in Him.

Because we practice believer's baptism, we do not baptize infants. However, Christians who come from traditions that practice infant baptism are welcome at Salt City But Salt City will continue to teach and practice believer's baptism by immersion.

We believe Communion is for those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ. Through the bread and the cup, we remember Christ's body given for us and His blood shed for the forgiveness of our sins. Communion does not save us or repeat Christ's sacrifice; rather, it points us back to the finished work of Jesus on the cross.

We come to the Lord's Table with faith, gratitude, and self-examination as we remember Christ's sacrifice, proclaim His death until He returns, and celebrate our unity as His body.

At Salt City, we ordinarily observe Communion together on the first Sunday of each month

We believe God's heart is for people from every nation, tribe, people, and language to know Him and experience salvation through Jesus Christ. Because the gospel is good news for everyone, Jesus has commanded His Church to go and make disciples of all nations. Therefore, we encourage every believer to share and demonstrate the gospel through words, actions, and the way they live—in neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, communities, and wherever life exists.

We believe marriage is a gift from God and was established by Him as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman. Men and women are equally created in the image of God and possess equal dignity, value, and worth, while bringing their God-given distinctions into the marriage covenant.

Scripture also presents marriage as a picture of the covenant relationship between Jesus Christ and His Church. Therefore, sexual intimacy is God's good gift and is intended to be expressed within the covenant of marriage between a husband and wife

Because we believe God created and defines marriage, our understanding and practice of marriage are rooted in Scripture rather than changing cultural definitions

Weddings at Salt City

Consistent with our biblical convictions, Salt City Church and its pastors will only officiate weddings that we believe meet the biblical definition of marriage between one biological man and one biological woman.

Those requesting a Salt City minister to officiate their wedding must make a credible profession of faith in Jesus Christ and participate in premarital counseling approved by church leadership. Our leadership reserves the right to decline to officiate a wedding when they believe doing so would be inconsistent with Scripture, our doctrinal convictions, or appropriate pastoral wisdom

Because we recognize marriage as part of God's common grace for society, Salt City may, at the discretion of church leadership, permit its facilities to be used for a wedding between one biological man and one biological woman who are not members or professing Christians. Permission to use church facilities does not require Salt City pastors or elders to officiate the ceremony.

Christ. We believe that when he returns, the dead will be physically resurrected, those alive in Christ will be transformed and both the just and unjust will be judged) ushering in the eternal state. Satan and all the powers of darkness will be eternally punished, along with all who have rejected Christ and remain separated from God.

We believe that there will be a new heaven and new earth, and Jesus will reign as king, fulfilling all Old and New Testament prophecies as the Messiah, the Lamb now become Lion of Judah. We believe that the righteous, in imperishable resurrection bodies, will live with Jesus forever, serving, worshipping and reigning with him in glory.
